Time went by. Cameron had dropped out of college and had married a younger waitress named Susan Williams. Cameron earned his living by working as a truck driver however he still hadn’t quit on his dreams of becoming a movie maker. When Cameron had seen this film, which was in fact Star Wars, he was bewildered. He felt awful actually, he felt that Star Wars was the movie he had always needed to make. He decided that the time to completely pursue his desires had come. Cameron spent nights and days within the library studying every film related piece of writing he could find. He learn all the pieces from screenplays to “how do you do that and that with special effects”. He even bought lenses, film equipment and much more, he took it residence and took it aside to find out how every little mechanism worked. He turned completely obsessed. Oblivious of everything else in his life. This profound interest in films and the making of those would ultimately be the downfall of his first marriage.
Cameron received involved along with his first real movie-making course of in 1979. His good friend William Wisher, an aspiring screenwriter with whom Cameron later on would co-write T2 - Judgment Day, had gotten a lucky break when he was employed by some dentists in Tustin, California who wanted to invest their money in films as a tax shelter. Wisher requested Cameron if he wanted to assist him. The 2 sat down and came up with many different story lines but eventually decided to go together with a sci-fi associated story. They wrote a screenplay which might require numerous special effects but the children did not take into account that downside on the time.
